MINISTRY IN REVIEW
Frank Jones Ministries became full time on Sunday, January 1. Our first event was a Commissioning Concert at my home church, First Baptist in Guntersville. I played for both of the AM services, seeing many close friends from my high school days. The evening concert was a great blessing. We had family members present as well as our new Frank Jones Ministries Board. Thanks to pastor and host Joel Samuels for going the extra mile in making it a great day for our ministry.
On Sunday, January 15, I played at South Roebuck Baptist Church for their morning services. I played for the 9:30 worship service of South Roebuck Community Church which it a church plant of SRBC, and is pastored by former Huffman staff member, Jerome Bell. What a wonderful experience this was. I then provided a sermon in song for the main worship service at 11:00. Thanks to Michael Ethridge and Chris Crain for a warm welcome to this wonderful church.
On Friday, January 20, I imbarked on a ten day trip to Florida. The first stop on this ministry tour was FBC, Homestead where I led music for a revival. The evangelist was Bro. Tommy Watson, a former pastor in that area - he was 83 years old - still got plenty of fire in him. Pastor Howard Harden was in our college ministry at Crestway in Birmingham in the early and mid 90's. From there, I traveled to the Tampa area where, on Thursday night, I had the opportunity of sharing our ministry with about 425 Florida Baptist who make up the Florida Baptist Worship Choir and Orchestra. On Friday evening, I entertained at the Friday Fellowship of the Senior Adults at FBC, Brandon. David Durham is Minister to Adults there. He and his wife, Susan, and I were classmates at Samford back in the dark ages. On Sunday, the 29th, I assisted in morning worship at Fruit Cove Baptist in Jacksonville. Richard Thompson, an Alabama native, is Minister of Music there. I had the opportunity of doing a full concert on Sunday evening along with the celebration of baptism and the Lord's Supper. I was certainly glad to see 2881 Wisteria Drive on Monday afternoon. Love my family!
